In order for the child's development needs to be noticed in time and the necessary support to be provided as soon as possible, a common information system for Bernsaug.gov.lv is being developed in Latvia. This digital platform will combine health, education and social information, helping professionals work in harmony and parents feel confident about the progress of their child's development.
Why is this system useful for parents and children?
The main objective of the system is to ensure that information on the development of the child is not fragmented and does not disappear between different institutions. It allows to plan and monitor in one place the necessary support at education, keep track of health prevention, and spot any development risks in a timely manner. This helps professionals and parents to make sure that commonly chosen support measures are effective on a child's daily basis and deliver the expected outcome for their full development.
Platform functionality and capabilities
The platform consists of several interconnected modules that provide a comprehensive and sequential support process:
- Early screening results and recommendations: data from the Child's Early Development Screening Toolkit (BAASIK) are available in the system. They allow professionals and parents to assess the dynamics of a child's development and receive recommendations for further steps.
- Prophylactic examination data: General practitioners electronically record the results of routine examinations, providing a convenient overall picture of the progress of the child's health and development.
- Working environment of the team of specialists: The platform serves as a common environment for professionals in different fields (such as speech therapists, psychologists, educators etc.) to plan their child's support in a coordinated manner.
- Information on received support: information about the services and activities already provided to the child will be transparently displayed in the system. This helps professionals ensure that support is succession so that no stage important to a child's growth is dismissed.
- Catalogue of support services and specialists: An up-to-date list of certified specialists, support programmes and therapies available for strengthening children and families in Latvia is available in one place.
About project: this system is developed by the State Chancellery with financial support from the European Social Fund Plus (4.3.6.8). The aim of the project is to modernise ICT systems in order to promote protection of children's rights and ensure better life prospects for every child in Latvia, reducing the risks of social exclusion.
